How Fancy Text Affects Character Count
Here's something important: Unicode fancy characters count the same as regular characters. One styled letter = one character.
Example:
- "Hello" = 5 characters
- "𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼" = 5 characters
- "ℍ𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠" = 5 characters
This means you won't lose space by using fancy fonts!
But Wait - There's an Exception
Emoji and some symbols count as 2 characters (or more) because they use multiple Unicode code points.
Examples:
- ❤️ = 2 characters
- 👨👩👧 (family emoji) = 8 characters
- 🏳️🌈 (pride flag) = 6 characters
