Wavy Text Generator

Add wavy tilde marks above each character.

Wavy text keeps your normal letters but stacks a small ripple — a tilde — over the top of each one, giving the whole line a breezy, ocean-like flutter (W̃ãṽỹ). It reads as soft and playful rather than bold or aggressive, which makes it a favorite for laid-back aesthetic posts, summer captions, and dreamy usernames. Because the underlying letters are untouched, it stays perfectly readable while looking decorated.

How Wavy Text Works

Your letters are NOT swapped for special characters — they remain ordinary ASCII. After each character the generator appends U+0303, the Combining Tilde, a "mark, nonspacing" (Mn) combining diacritic with above-letter positioning. The font renders that mark stacked on top of the preceding glyph, so "Wavy" becomes "W̃ãṽỹ" while still being the same four base letters underneath. This is the same combining-marks technique behind strikethrough and overline styles; only the chosen mark (the wavy tilde) differs. Spaces, numbers, and punctuation each pick up a tilde too, since the mark is added after every character.

Tips for Using Wavy Text

  • Keep it to short phrases — a tilde over every letter can crowd long sentences and make a full paragraph harder to scan.
  • Pair it with related decorators like overline or strikethrough for layered looks, but avoid stacking multiple marks on the same letters, which can clip or overflow line spacing.
  • Test it in your target app first: a few platforms with tight line-height may slightly cut off the top of the tildes, so a quick preview saves surprises.

Wavy Text Compatibility

Because it relies on a standard combining diacritic (U+0303) rather than rare symbols, wavy text displays reliably across Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, Discord, Facebook, and most modern browsers and phones. The one caveat is vertical spacing: apps with very tight line-height may visually crop the tops of the tildes, and a small number of older or minimalist system fonts render combining marks slightly offset. It always copies and pastes correctly since the base letters are normal text.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my wavy text look like it has accent marks instead of a smooth wave?

The wave is made from a tilde (~) placed over each individual letter, so up close it looks like a row of little accents rather than one continuous line. Viewed at normal size and as a full word, those repeated tildes read as a rippling, wavy effect.

Is wavy text actually a different font, or just my normal letters decorated?

It's your normal letters decorated. The generator doesn't change A into a special character — it adds an invisible-width combining tilde on top of each one. That's why screen readers and search still see the real word underneath.

Will the tildes show up on Instagram and TikTok?

Yes. The combining tilde is a long-standing, widely supported Unicode mark, so it renders on Instagram bios, captions, comments, and TikTok the same way it does in your browser. If a line has very tight spacing the tops of the tildes can look slightly trimmed, but the text stays fully readable.

Can I add a tilde over only some letters instead of all of them?

This generator adds the mark to every character automatically for a consistent wave. If you want it on just one or two letters, copy the full wavy result and delete the tilde marks you don't want — each one is a separate character that backspace can remove individually.

Where to Use Wavy Text

  • Instagram and TikTok captions for beach, summer, or travel content where a rippling vibe matches the photo
  • Soft aesthetic usernames and display names on Discord, Twitter/X, or Tumblr that want decoration without going full glitch
  • Pairing with wave, water, or sparkle emojis in a bio line for a cohesive dreamy look
  • Spotify or playlist titles for chill, lo-fi, or ambient music collections
  • Comment replies and short status updates where you want a gentle, casual flourish that's still easy to read
  • Aesthetic moodboard captions or Pinterest pin titles that lean vaporwave or soft-grunge
